Early Childhood Educator (ECE or RECE)

For supply teaching shifts from May 2022 onward plus full time employment from late June to the end of August 2022. Temporary appointment with the option to continue as a supply teacher in Sept 2022 and beyond.

$18-$20 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Do you love to work with children? Are you driven and motivated? Do you love paying attention to detail? We are seeking an early childhood educator with a high degree of professionalism to work in our toddler classroom at Stoney Creek Montessori School. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Screening incoming children at the front door each morning
  • Deliver summer-centred activities and lessons inside the classroom and in the school’s natural playground
  • Sanitizing the classroom in line with Ministry and Public Health regulations
  • Supporting classroom logging and documentation including updating children’s electronic records for families
  • Changing diapers and helping children with toileting
  • Providing centre support as needed to meet the children’s needs and support compliance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health

The ideal candidate will

  • Be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) (highly desirable) or familiar with Early Childhood Education
  • Have experience working with children
  • Be compassionate, gentle and enthusiastic when working with children
  • Have excellent classroom management skills and communication skills
  • Thrive on working collaboratively and independently when required
  • Have a proven ability to work flexibly within a team setting
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to work well independently, yet as part of a dynamic team 
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • High energy and a can-do attitude
  • Available between the hours of 8.30 am and 5.30 pm for 8 hour shifts per day
  • One professional reference (ideally from a childcare setting) and one personal reference

Early Childhood Educator (Canada Summer Job Grant)

For supply teaching shifts from April 2022 onward plus full time employment from late June to the end of August 2022. Remuneration: $17-$19 per hour based on experience.

The responsibilities will be shared among the team and include but are not limited to:

  1. Screening incoming children at the front door each morning
  2. Deliver summer-centred activities and lessons inside the classroom and in the school’s natural playground
  3. Sanitizing the classroom in line with Ministry and Public Health regulations
  4. Supporting classroom logging and documentation including updating children’s electronic records for families
  5. Changing diapers and helping children with toileting
  6. Providing centre support as needed to meet the children’s needs and support compliance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health

The successful candidate should

The Canada Job Grant requires that the successful candidate must be 

  • Under 30 years of age 
  • a permanent Canadian resident, citizen, or refugee; and
  • Able to work full time over a 6 to 8 week period in July and August 2022 (40 hours per week, between 8 am and 5 pm on weekdays)
  • Able to attend training days in late June 2022

Candidates who are able to start on a part-time basis from April or May will be given preference.

Successful candidates will require a police check (order online here) and Standard First Aid with CPR-C training before starting employment.
