Stoney Creek Montessori sits within the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Mississauga Nations. We honour their enduring presence and are grateful to work and learn on these lands.
Stoney Creek Montessori is a traditional, women-run Montessori school in Lower Stoney Creek, Ontario, welcoming children from 18 months to six years of age. Housed in a beautifully refurbished building conveniently located near the highways, our indoor and outdoor spaces have been designed specifically around the needs of young children. We are licensed by the Ministry of Education’s CCEYA, funded by the CWELCC-program, and accredited by Montessori Canada (formerly CCMA).
We are a nurturing, joyful place where every child is treasured as an individual. Following the Montessori philosophy, we allow children to develop at their own pace, in an environment that reflects a dedication to quality, beauty, and children’s ability to do things for themselves.
What sets us apart
Our authentic Montessori curriculum is delivered with rigour and warmth. Several of our teachers are also parents of children at the school, which gives our community a rare intimacy: the people guiding your child through their day have chosen this place for their own families, too. Our experienced, qualified team brings together expertise in early childhood education, Montessori pedagogy, social work, and education.
Our curriculum gives particular attention to the natural world, the arts, Canada’s multilingual and multicultural heritage, including the history and cultures of First Nations peoples, and the diverse futures our children are growing into.
We are proudly independent and non-denominational, welcoming children and families of all faiths, ethnicities, backgrounds, and socio-economic circumstances. As an equal opportunities employer, we are committed to building a team that reflects the community we serve.
Joining our community
Enrolment at Stoney Creek Montessori requires a genuine commitment from parents to the Montessori pedagogy, both at home and at school. To learn more, please see our Parent Handbook. Parents are welcome to register their children on our waiting list. We also occasionally have staff vacancies.
